Amazon Jungle Lodges

Immerse yourself in the Amazon Jungle at one of our Amazon Lodges. Arrive boat and stay at the very edge of the largest river system in the world. Wake up every morning to the staggering sound of the Amazon Dawn Chorus. Witness wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, macaws and even the Amazon River dolphins at such close quarters that they may even become your friends. Trek into the jungle to learn the secrets of the rainforest and how to survive in it. Paddle canoes day and night along the quiet creeks for close-up encounters with caimans. Swing in a hammock at the end of another amazing day in the Amazon Jungle while staying at an Amazon Lodge with Brazil Adventure Tours.

Tariri Lodge

Tariri Lodge is a simple, rustic lodge run by a family who have lived in the Amazon Jungle for many years, and have great experience with Amazon tourism. Guests are made to feel very welcome by the personal treatment that they receive at Tariri, and the small lodge means that this extends to the excursions too, when groups are very manageable in size. The lodge is very much a part of the Amazon Jungle and River system, with creeks, trails and beaches all making up one of the most diverse ecosystems of the whole Amazon, being between the differing aspects of the two largest Amazon tributaries, the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimoes. Your time at the lodge will be shared with other guests of course, some of them being residents of the rainforest! Macaws and toucans are regular visitors here, and while they are able to fly freely, they spend much of their time around the lodge. If some of the most colourful Amazon natives choose to stay at Tariri Lodge, then Brazil Adventure Tours are quite sure our clients will be very happy there too!

Itinerary

Day 1
The Amazon from Above

Destination: Manaus

Your flight takes you over the Amazon Jungle to Manaus, flying above miles of nothing but green jungle and silver rivers for the final hour or more. On arrival, you will be met for transfer to your Manaus hotel. After lunch, an afternoon of climbing huge Amazon Trees takes you along the Rio Negro until the Meeting of the Waters. From here, you scale the 60m tall samauma trees until the Amazon canopy. The view of the Meeting of the Waters from here is from an angle that most people never see. All safety equipment and instruction is provided for you, returning to your hotel late afternoon.
Day 2
Journey to the Jungle

Destination: Manaus to Tariri Lodge

In the morning you will be picked up for the two and a half hour journey through the jungle, completing the journey to Tariri Lodge by boat amongst the sights and sounds of the Amazon. The lodge sits on the edge of Lago de Acajatuba, part of the Rio Negro river system. In the afternoon you can take a boat tour around the lake, visiting some of the houses of the river residents before returning to the lodge for dinner. In the evening you have the chance to look for the largest reptile in South America, caiman alligators, along the Amazon River system before you settle into your rustic cabin and fall asleep to the sounds of the Amazon Jungle around you.
Day 3
Explore the Amazon Jungle

Destination: Tariri Lodge

Your time at the lodge can be spent engaging in Amazon activities - trekking through the jungle with your expert guide, canoeing along the creeks and through the trunks of the flooded forests, amongst wildlife such as the birds, monkeys and possibly sloths. You have the opportunity to fish for piranha too. The legendary Amazon fish is not always as dangerous to humans as humans are to them - you can also learn how many uses of those sharp teeth there are in the Amazon. You return to the lodge in the late afternoon to enjoy the sounds of the sunset once more. Dinner is again at the lodge, with meals cooked from fresh local ingredients.
Day 4
Amazon Jungle Survival

Destination: Tariri Amazon Lodge

One of your nights at Tariri will include an overnight stay in the Amazon Rainforest to learn some basic tricks for surviving in the world's largest jungle. A hike and canoe trip takes you into the forest where your camp for the night will be mounted between the trees. Bed will be a hammock strung between two of them, and dinner will be cooked on the fire using ingredients sourced in the forest and the river. As well as fishing for piranha, one of the staple foods of the Amazon, you can also learn how to hold a small caiman. There is so much to learn in the Amazon, about the ecosystem, the plants, and the jungle creatures, all of which can be useful.
Day 5
Amazon River Dolphins

Destination: Tariri Lodge

After breakfast you take a ride in regional canoes through the Amazonian Creeks and Flooded Forests in the warm Rio Negro waters and explore parts of the Amazon Jungle that are impossible to reach on foot or by motor boat. The tranquility allows you to enjoy the sights and sounds for yourselves. After lunch you can head out on boat to visit a local dolphin colony, including the pink Amazon River Dolphins. Your guide is always on hand with some expert local knowledge and the animals sometimes stay and play for half the afternoon, making this kind of personal interaction a highlight of your Amazon tour.
Day 6
Flying Away from The Amazon

Destination: Tariri Lodge to Manaus & Away

After breakfast, you begin the journey from Tariri Lodge back to the Real World. The morning boat takes you back to the road, where you drive on to the airport in Manaus. From there, you can fly either directly away from Brazil to the north, travel on to another of our wonderful Brazil destinations, or you can fly on to Sao Paulo, Rio or Brasilia and connect with international flights there. Your journey home gives you chance to reflect on the natural wonders encountered during your trip which leave special memories of the Amazon Rainforest.
