Copa America 2019

The Copa America 2019 is the final big event of Brazil's 'Golden Decade'. It takes place in 5 cities from 14 June to 7 July 2019.

12 teams will compete in the 46th edition of the tournament: Hosts Brazil plus South American rivals Argentina; Bolivia; Chile; Colombia; Ecuador; Paraguay; Peru, Uruguay; and Venezuela. Invited guests for this tournament will be Japan and Qatar.

There are six stadiums to be used across the five host cities, some of which were used for the 2014 World Cup. Sao Paulo has the Morumbi, which will host the opening ceremony and match on Friday 14 June 2019, and also the Arena Palmeiras. The Mineirao in Belo Horizonte (scene of something that happened in 2014 which Brazilians do not enjoy talking about!) and the Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre will be used for the semi-finals plus group games; while the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador will be used for group games and perhaps a quarter-final. The 2019 Copa America Final, amonst others, will be held at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday 7 July 2019.
